Our Goal for 2025

Prospect Hill Cemetery has 349 identified veterans resting here. Of these, 296 veterans have confirmed grave markers — and that’s our sponsorship goal this year.

Our dream goal is full coverage: 349 wreaths — one for every identified veteran.

Each wreath honors a life, a story, and a piece of Omaha’s history.

For only $17 you can sponsor a wreath for 2025 Wreaths Across America!

2025 will be the fourth year Omaha's historic Prospect Hill Cemetery will be participating in Wreaths Across AmericaFor only $17 you can sponsor a wreath for 2025 Wreaths Across America!

The idea is simple - a live, handmade balsam wreath will be placed on the grave of a veteran. That veteran's name will be said aloud as the wreath is placed, honoring their service and keeping their memory alive.

We hope you will join us Sunday, December 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at the cemetery or via our livestream, for a brief Wreaths Across America ceremony before laying the wreaths upon the graves.

Volunteers Welcome and Appreciated!

Immediately following our ceremony, we will gather our volunteers for brief instruction and assignments to lay the wreaths on the graves of our veterans. If you would like to volunteer, simply be at the cemetery at 11:00 AM!

How We Calculate Our Numbers

Prospect Hill’s records stretch back to the mid-1800s, and some early sections have incomplete or conflicting documentation. Over time, headstones have been damaged, replaced, or lost — and we’re working to confirm each veteran one by one.
If you know of a veteran buried at Prospect Hill who may not be reflected in our count, please contact us at prospecthillcemeteryomaha@gmail.com.

Together, we can ensure every veteran’s service is remembered.

Why Your Support Matters

Many of our veterans’ graves have stood unmarked for generations. Through recent preservation efforts, we’ve been able to replace or set 27 new markers — and this year, we’re inviting the community to honor every one of them with a wreath for the first time.

How to Help

  • Sponsor a wreath: each $17 sponsorship provides a fresh balsam wreath for one veteran.

  • Volunteer: join us for the ceremony and wreath placement on December 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM.

  • Spread the word: share our posts, tell a friend, or tag us on Facebook at @ProspectHillOmaha.
